This summer has been quite busy, packed with festivities: bridal showers, bachelorette parties, kids’ birthday parties, etc. My close friends talked about planning a baby shower for me a while ago, but deep down I thought to myself that it would be difficult for them to find a date since I have an event to attend practically every weekend and so do my other groups of friends. So...I was SHOCKED when my best friends and partner in crime Sophie surprised me with a hot air balloon themed baby shower! I really did not see this coming, let me tell ya!
It was a typical Sunday morning. Like usual, I was getting ready to go to church. It was the only Sunday of the month that I didn’t have to rush. I was taking my sweet time to get ready when Tim, my husband, reminded me that we had to go to his parents’ house for lunch. We drove to his parents’ house and I noticed there were many cars parked in front of it. He explained that his parents might have invited a few friends for lunch. I didn’t think much of it, and then he opened the front door. Guess what I saw? SURPRISE - all my closest friends gathered together to celebrate my baby!
I was so overwhelmed with joy! Words cannot describe how happy I was. And yes, I shed a few tears...ok, maybe more than a few!
After hugging each one of them, I looked more closely at the beautiful sweet table that the girls set up for me. Everything revolved around a theme - hot air balloons, my new obsession! I loved the fact that the girls didn’t choose a gender-specific color.
These hot air balloon cookies were AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS! My friend Shereen, mother of a oh-so-adorable almost-two-year-old beautiful girl, had them made specifically for the shower. =D
My sister from a different mother and father, Jessi, made these cute hot air balloon toppers!
I was also really impressed by the hot air balloon favors. When I saw them, I knew right away there were the masterpiece of my partner in crime: Sophie. She never ceases to impress me! They looked so amazing that I wanted to bring one home, but they were for the guests of course. =)
Sophie also made these Nutella brownies which were a hit! The girls loved them! I'll try to convince her to share her secret recipe on the blog one day. ;)
These ladies have a special place in my heart and to see them all gathered in one place - for me - makes me feel truly blessed. Right after the baby shower, I was thinking to myself; what have I done to deserve such good friends!
I'm so grateful for them, and I know my baby will come into this world showered with love and affection. This is an event that I certainly do not want to forget, and I'm so thankful that our talented friend and photographer, Lena, was there to capture it.
Now...when is this baby coming?
